Internationally well known for the developed tourism sector, blue-flag beaches, outstanding castle and high quality service, Alanya will gain its first independent university as well.  In 2005 the Alanya Faculty of Business was opened as a satelite campus of the Akdeniz University in Antalya.  But after 2012 Alanya will have its independent private university as well. It will be for the first time that a university will be built in a town, not a city, in Turkey.

Local authorities headed by Alanya Mayor applied to open a university in Alanya two years ago and finally succeeded in august 2011. The Alanya university shall take a name from Hamdullah Emin Paşa Foundation, the only paşa in the Turkish history coming from Alanya. The university shall open its doors as soon as 2012 – 2013 educational year and the local authorities believe in Alanya´s potential to become an international brand in educational sector as well.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Faculty of Engineering took place in Alanya on Friday, 18. November 2011, with participation of the Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc.
